Former National Football League Star Antonio Brown Files Not Guilty Plea in Attempted Murder Case

One-time NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is traveling to Miami to address an attempted murder accusation connected with a shooting that occurred in May, as his lawyer entering a not guilty declaration on his behalf.

Detention records in Essex, New Jersey, indicate that Brown was freed on Tuesday morning for his transfer to the state of Florida. Brown, a highly popular figures in the NFL, had forgone transfer to Florida from New Jersey, in which he was taken after being taken into custody in the city of Dubai.

Brown’s counsel, Mark Eiglarsh, stated in an email that he has earlier filed a written not guilty plea to the murder attempt charge. Brown could be in a Miami court as soon as Wednesday morning for a bail session, Eiglarsh said.

According to his apprehension document, Brown is alleged of grabbing a pistol from a security employee after a public figure boxing event in May and shooting two shots at a person he had confronted with earlier. The claimed target, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, stated to police that a bullet scraped his nape.

Eiglarsh stated that Brown was merely protecting himself from Nantambu.

“The actions he was forced to take were purely in defense against the alleged individual’s violent conduct. Brown was attacked that time and acted within his legal privilege to safeguard himself,” Eiglarsh said.

Brown was not immediately detained because originally officers did not recognize Nantambu as a victim. It only subsequently in May that Nantambu provided a complete statement about the situation to police and pointed out Brown as the perpetrator, the report indicates.

From his digital content, Brown had been residing in the city of Dubai for a number of months. In a post after the altercation, Brown said he was protecting himself because he was “jumped by multiple individuals who sought to rob my possessions and inflict personal injury to me.”

A category two attempted murder accusation in Florida imposes a highest 15-year prison sentence and up to a ten thousand dollar fee in the event of a guilty verdict.

Brown has dealt with numerous legal problems over the years. He previously had been charged of physical attack of a vehicle employee, multiple family violence allegations, neglect to pay child support and other occurrences.

In a recent contest with his team against the New York Jets, Brown took off his shirt, shoulder pads and accessories and ran off the arena, causing his dismissal by the Buccaneers and virtually halting his professional career.

Brown, who had twelve years in the National Football League, was an All-Pro player who devoted the majority of his time with his team. Throughout his time, Brown had 928 receptions for over 12,291 yards, the 28th highest of all time. He was a seven-time prestigious selection.
