It's tough for Australia to break new ground.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a team that has won it all.

The fact it required up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the bowlers that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their hitters to maintain a record if not afforded the chance.

Ultimately, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her debut and seven world titles have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

Whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Many contend the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this performance came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it was a frustrating experience because I feel like I've had no rhythm whatsoever," said Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit take over and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and from there the right-hander was in motion.

"The possibility to take the field and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun that way, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was removed her side needed 66 more at run per delivery - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I'm pleased we have the assurance to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, should it happen, we are confident we can achieve it."

These statements will be the last Australia's opponents at this championship should hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will win from any position has only strengthened - this victory coming after victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing despite the injury.

However although she afterwards confessed those injuries have delayed plans to retire, this championship is likely to be her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a global event as skipper.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
